About FC:AI

My story

For those who don't know (and that's most of you), I've been living with Stage 4 colorectal cancer for several years now. It's incurable but manageable — I'm on indefinite chemotherapy.

I've kept this mostly private until recently. Partly because I didn’t want it to define me. Partly because I was still processing what it means to live with an expiration date that keeps getting extended.

Recently, I had to re-tell my kids about my diagnosis because they’d forgotten we told them when they were younger. That conversation made me realise something: I've been treating cancer like a secret project, when it could be an open-source one.

Throughout my cancer journey, I've been quietly using AI tools to help navigate the chaos: tracking treatments, planning nutrition, managing the logistics of being a parent/partner/professional while also being a patient.

These tools have given me back precious mental bandwidth when cancer was determined to take it all.

Cancer takes so much from us. With the right tools, maybe we can take something back.

The Mission

FC:AI exists to:

  1. Create practical AI tools that help cancer patients and caregivers manage the daily reality of treatment

  2. Build a community where we can be brutally honest about cancer without pity or platitudes

  3. Develop resources that give people back some control when cancer tries to take it all

This isn't about "fighting" cancer with positivity or finding silver linings. It's about acknowledging the reality of cancer while refusing to let it define everything.
