AI is changing everything. But it still fucks up - daily.

Over the last 12 months, I’ve used AI to help me live and work with stage 4 cancer. Every day. To draft emails. To plan my chemo weeks. To track symptoms, translate WHOOP data, and automate internal ops.

And while it's helped massively, it’s still so far from perfect.

So here’s a short, angry, mildly amused blog about the shit it still gets wrong. A personal Top 10 of classic AI fails, based entirely on my lived experience:

1. It thinks I’m Welsh.

I'm not. Never have been. I've told it, typed it, shouted it. It doesn’t care. Still spits out chunks of Cymraeg at random intervals.

2. It spells my name wrong.

It's Russ with two Ss. Always has been. I refer to myself that way constantly. Doesn’t matter.

3. It loves American English.

Despite every system instruction, every correction. Centre becomes center. Cheque becomes check. Argh.

4. It splurges emojis everywhere.

I don’t do confetti writing. It knows this. It does it anyway.

5. It gets dates wrong.

Tuesday is Monday. Week 7 is Week 4. Time is a flat circle inside a large language model.

6. Sometimes, it gets the year wrong.

No notes. Just chaos.

7. It forgets what I told it.

Even with a custom GPT, it’ll ignore embedded instructions or pretend my uploaded documents don’t exist.

8. It believes lies.

If I tell it confidently that "today is Sunday" (it’s not), it’ll agree. AI is many things. Assertive is not one of them.

9. It messes with my face.

Every AI-generated image gives me an uncanny valley doppelgänger. I’ve grown to like it. But it’s still weird.

10. It Writes Like This In Every Title.

I’ve stopped fixing it. Pick your battles.

And Yet… I Still Use It

Because the point isn’t perfection - it’s partnership.

AI helps me gather my thoughts. See patterns. Catch mistakes. It gives me space to reflect. And it makes hard days a little easier.

Yes, it f up. So do I.

So we keep going. Together.
