It told me, that is. It didn't remove it...
I wrote recently about using NotebookLM to turn my chemo history into a shareable resource—one that pulls in scan results, blood tests, letters, doctor conversations, everything.
As well as being able to ask it anything about my cancer journey—specific dates of treatment, what happened on X, have I ever been prescribed Y—it creates an audio summary of everything.
Basically, two American podcast hosts talking about little old me, in incredible detail.
So I finally gave that a listen...and it just told me—very confidently—that I'd had my gallbladder removed, three years ago. Which I had no memory of.
I checked with Katy Read-Barrow (who remembers everything), and… she didn’t know either.
If nothing else, this goes to show how the info shared by hospitals over 4 years (50–100 pages per year), is pretty much impossible to digest.
It also shows how a simple AI tool can help with that.
Fortunately, after a frantic Google, I realised my gallbladder didn't do a lot. But in any case, odd that I wasn't made aware of it before now. And maybe next time it might pick out something more crucial... a bit closer to the time the Drs do.
As well as attaching a couple of the standout lines from the audio summary, I'll try and attach some audio. NotebookLM has just added a beta feature where you can talk to the podcasters directly... even weirder... even more impressive.
If anyone is keen to use NotebookLM for themselves or someone else, and you need help, just comment or DM me.
After all, it's not everyday you find out you've had an organ removed 3 years ago 🫀🔪.
